Buster + Punch

Luxury hardware and lighting in solid metal, with an industrial and rebellious aesthetic.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom, London Founded in 2013 $$$$

Buster + Punch positions itself as "London born" but doesn't communicate on its manufacturing locations. US customs data shows imports from China (Ningbo). The design is London, the production probably isn't. At this price level, the lack of transparency is problematic.

Philosophy

London hardware brand that decided switches, handles and outlets deserved better than white plastic. Industrial design, solid finishes, rock spirit. Hardware turned into objects of desire.

History

Shoreditch, 2013. Massimo Buster Minale is an architect. He's done Foster + Partners, Richard Rogers, built his own agency Minale + Mann. But evenings, in an East London garage, he builds custom motorbikes. He forges parts himself, transforms vintage machines into one-offs for local musicians and designers. One day, the orders change: it's no longer bikes they want, but door handles. Switches. Everyday domestic objects nobody looks at, which Minale decides to make impossible to ignore.

Buster + Punch is born from this unlikely crossover between architecture, mechanics and London's rock culture. The brand works solid metals - brass, black steel, bronze - with a knurled finish borrowed from motorcycle parts. The catalogue runs from switches to luminaires, door handles to toilet roll holders. Every piece has weight in the hand, every dimmer click is a small mechanical pleasure. The positioning is clear: transform forgotten hardware into "home fashion".

The brand has exploded. Two flagship showrooms (London and Stockholm's Östermalm district), distribution in 30+ countries. ArchDaily, Dezeen, Wallpaper* cover every launch. But there's a blind spot: Buster + Punch calls itself "London born" without specifying where its products are manufactured. US customs data shows imports from Ningbo (China) via Licheng Precise Limited. The design is London, the spirit is London, but production probably isn't. At this price point ($$$$), transparency on manufacturing would be welcome.

Iconic Products

Poignées de porte 'Knurled'

These solid brass handles, with their distinctive knurling, have become the brand's signature. They are heavy, precise, and transform a simple door into a style statement. Be aware that some blackened finishes may dull over time, but raw brass ages gracefully.

Ampoule 'Buster Bulb'

An LED bulb unlike any other, with its tinted glass and spiral filament. It's a design object in its own right, not just a light source. It's pricey for a bulb, but it's made to be seen, not hidden.

Interrupteurs et variateurs 'Electricity'

Solid metal switches and dimmers that feel like operating a precision industrial object. The click is satisfying, the feel is luxurious. It's the kind of detail that elevates an interior, but at a cost that will make pragmatists think twice.
