"What you cannot buy, you simply have to make yourself." Heinrich Sattler's motto, passed down through three generations. 99% production depth, movements manufactured entirely in-house, noble materials (agate, rubies, gold, hardened brass). Clocks designed to last centuries.

History

Heinrich Sattler, a clockmaker, patented a desk clock with perpetual calendar in 1903. Nearly sixty years later, in 1958, his grandson Erwin, also a clockmaker, founded his own manufactory in Gräfelfing near Munich. Early pieces included wall and table clocks with hand-carved, poliment-gilded cases. Viola Sattler, Erwin's wife and an artist, hand-painted certain models.

In 1989, Stephanie Sattler joined the company. From 1992, the transformation began: Erwin Sattler evolved from a clock company into a full manufactory, with the goal of producing its own movements. By 2002, production depth exceeded 90%. That same year, Erwin retired and handed the reins to his daughter Stephanie Sattler-Rick and watchmaker Richard Müller.

The manufactory also launched an unprecedented concept: precision pendulum clock kits assembled by the customer (Müller & Sattler Uhrenbausatz GmbH). In 2006, the company moved to a larger building, still in Gräfelfing, whose facade houses the world's largest precision pendulum clock, with a pendulum nearly eight meters long.

In 2019, Richard Müller retired. Master clockmakers Markus Glöggler and Jürgen Kohler joined Stephanie Sattler-Rick in management. The manufactory employs clockmakers who work on movements containing up to 601 parts. A single movement can take up to two years to complete. Materials are uncompromising: hardened brass up to 5mm thick, steel arbors, agate pallets, jewel bearings, gold plating for oxidation protection.
