GiantMouse
Danish design folding knives, manufactured in Italy and China
Respected designers, flawless design, but manufacturing outsourced to China and Italy, with documented QC issues. Value proposition questioned against Benchmade, Spyderco, or even direct Chinese high-end production (Civivi, WE Knife) offering similar specs for less.
Philosophy
Scandinavian-designed pocket tool. Collaboration between two Danish knife masters. Nordic design excellence in EDC.
History
Founded by Jesper Voxnaes and Jens Anso, two of the most respected knife designers on the planet. Anso's customs sell for thousands on the secondary market. With GiantMouse, the idea was to make that Danish design accessible through production models. The design is indeed excellent, clean lines, thoughtful ergonomics, Scandinavian aesthetics. The catch: manufacturing is outsourced to China (by Reate, a reputable OEM) and Italy (Maniago). For the asking price ($$$), Chinese production raises eyebrows. forum enthusiasts: 'tool are great, price point hard to justify.' Historical QC issues with the Italian OEMs. You're paying for the designers' names more than the manufacturing.
