Heimplanet

Inflatable tents and travel bags, geodesic design, Hamburg

🇩🇪 Germany, Hamburg Founded in 2011 $$$

Philosophy

Hamburg-based technical gear specialist. Merging futuristic geodesic architecture with premium travel carry. Innovative design and indestructible construction.

History

Heimplanet’s story began in 2003 during a surf trip along the Portuguese coast. Founders Stefan Clauss and Stefan Schulze-Dieckhoff found themselves struggling to pitch their tent amidst rising winds and rain. As the poles snapped and the fabric flailed, a revolutionary idea took hold: why not replace rigid poles with air? It took three years of rigorous development to turn this intuition into a viable product. In 2011, they launched 'The Cave' in Hamburg, featuring the Inflatable Diamond Grid (IDG). This geodesic structure of interconnected air chambers allows the tent to be pitched in under a minute with a simple pump. Beyond ease of setup, the design offers extraordinary wind resistance by distributing pressure evenly. The brand has since expanded into technical carry with the Transit line, earning a cult following on specialist forums’s enthusiasts for its premium materials and intelligent, if unconventional, organization. While the tents' weight makes them better suited for car camping than ultralight trekking, Heimplanet remains an independent beacon of German technical innovation.
