Ingram
Italian shirts since 1949, Sansepolcro (Tuscany). First branded shirt in Made in Italy history.
Philosophy
The everyday Italian shirt, well made. Since 1949, Ingram doesn't seek ostentatious luxury but consistent quality: good fabrics, good cut, good price. The kind of shirt a man buys by the half-dozen and wears for years.
History
Sansepolcro, Tuscany, 1949. L'avvocato Fabio Inghirami sets up his first machines on the ground floor of the 16th century family palazzo. He doesn't know it yet, but he's creating the first branded shirt in Made in Italy history. The name Ingram is a contraction of Inghirami.
Fabio Inghirami has a nose for commerce. He becomes his brand's first ambassador - his image serves as guarantee for shirts made by people working with passion. At the time, Italian shirts have no brand names. Ingram changes the game. The idea is simple: a well-made, identifiable shirt at an accessible price.
The company grows in Sansepolcro, the city of Piero della Francesca. The Inghirami group diversifies with other lines (Inghirami 1949 for high-end), but Ingram remains the heart: the democratic quality shirt. The headquarters remain on via Massimo Inghirami, the family still in charge.
On sartorial forums, Ingram is respected without being worshipped. The Bespoke Dudes visit the factory in 2014 and are impressed by production. No passionate specialist forums discussions - Ingram is the kind of brand too discreet for online noise. That's exactly its positioning: no hype, no excessive storytelling, just well-made shirts for 75 years.
Ingram will never be cited alongside Kiton or Finamore. That's not the point. It's the solid, honest, family Italian shirt at a price that doesn't hurt. And it's been Tuscan since 1949.
