Jacques Marie Mage

Limited-edition acetate and titanium frames made in Japan

🇺🇸 United States, Los Angeles Founded in 2014 $$$$

Philosophy

Numbered limited editions with top-level Japanese production. Each frame is built as a lasting object, not a trend item.

History

Jerome Mage launched Jacques Marie Mage in 2014 in Los Angeles with a clear proposition: make eyewear collectible. The core idea is not volume but rarity. Each model is released as a numbered limited edition, often in just a few hundred pieces.

Manufacturing is entrusted to Japanese workshops, mainly in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, a global benchmark for precision eyewear. Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, high-end titanium, custom engraved metal components - nothing is left to chance.

On forums and dedicated subreddits, the brand has become a topic of its own. On r/sunglasses and r/JacquesMarieMage, feedback consistently highlights finish quality and strong frame presence. Zephirin and Dealan are repeatedly discussed, including sizing, colorways, and edition differences.

Community reception is polarized but informed. Some enthusiasts argue the level of detail exceeds most premium brands. Others question the price point, often between 600 and 900 euros. That split is part of JMM's identity: a deliberate desire brand that does not try to please everyone.

JMM has also built a collector culture through selective collaborations and small-batch launches that sell out quickly. On the secondary market, some references trade above retail.

What truly sets Jacques Marie Mage apart is consistency between design, execution, and narrative. Frames are rich in cultural references while remaining wearable in daily life. For many enthusiasts, it is one of the rare independent brands operating at a level usually reserved for established luxury houses.
