John Eadon
Handcrafted wood furniture, modular shelving, Warwickshire
Artisanal production, lead times for bespoke orders. Mid-to-high pricing, justified by handcraft and solid FSC timber. Workshop by appointment only.
Philosophy
John Eadon designs and makes solid wood furniture in his Warwickshire workshop, set in a farm. Self-taught after studying at Norwich School of Art & Design, he combines traditional techniques - hand-cut joinery, steam bending, wood fuming - with contemporary Scandinavian-inspired design. Every piece is built to last generations, not end up on the kerb. FSC timber from sustainably managed forests, hands-on rapid prototyping, meticulous finishing. The kind of maker who'd rather work with wood than against it.
History
John Eadon grows up on a farm in Warwickshire. Daily contact with trees, woodland and nature forges an early connection to the material. He studies art at Norwich School of Art & Design, then works as a freelance carpenter and technician for galleries, arts programmes and artists. It's alongside other craftspeople that he develops his furniture-making skills.
His first private commissions come in 2010. In 2013, he opens his own workshop set in a Warwickshire farm. His approach is self-taught and unashamed - learning on the job gave him a full skillset which, combined with his art school training, forms the foundation of his work.
He develops two main collections. MIMA, inspired by the Windsor chair - which he considers the epitome of good design - and TRELLIS, a modular wall-hung solid wood shelving system. Both are customisable. He also takes bespoke commissions for residential and commercial interiors.
His design draws from 20th-century Danish and Scandinavian modernism, which itself drew from European, British and Japanese aesthetics. Full circle. Listed on Homo Faber (Michelangelo Foundation), featured in The Guardian, exhibited at British design galleries and fairs.
