Lacanche
High-end cooking ranges, hand-assembled in Burgundy, 1000 colors
Hand-assembled in Burgundy, 1000 colors, family-owned, zero compromise.
Philosophy
A Lacanche range is furniture as much as it is a tool. Each piece is hand-assembled in the village factory, with a choice of over a thousand enamel colors. The brand refuses industrial standardization: every order is bespoke, every range is unique.
History
The history of Lacanche is inextricably linked to its Burgundian village of the same name, which has been a center for ironwork since the early Middle Ages. In 1763, Jean-Baptiste de Richard de Curtil built a blast furnace on the site, laying the foundation for an industrial legacy that would survive the French Revolution and flourish through the 19th century. As French gastronomy was being elevated to a world-renowned art form by masters like Carême and Escoffier, the Lacanche workshops naturally evolved to specialize in high-performance cooking equipment. The convergence of iron, fire, and culinary excellence became the brand's defining trait.
In the 1980s, the family-owned business took a bold step forward when Jean-Jacques Augagneur decided to relaunch the historic foundry with a focus on premium ranges. In 1992, he introduced versions of their professional-grade ovens finished in vibrant enamels specifically for home cooks. Today, the manufacture remains fiercely independent and family-led, employing 130 craftsmen on the original site. Each year, they produce over 10,000 ranges, each built to order using noble materials like solid stainless steel, brass, and heavy cast iron. Awarded the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label, Lacanche is a testament to the enduring power of French artisanal heritage, exported to discerning kitchens from the United States to Denmark.
