Finnish weavers since 1973 in Lapua. European linen, Masters of Linen certified, local wool. Fourth family generation. Patterns inspired by Finnish nature.

History

Lapua, Southern Ostrobothnia, Finland. 1917, the year of Finnish independence. Juho Annala founds a felt boot factory. 1973: Esko Hjelt and wife Liisa found Lapuan Kankurit ('the weavers of Lapua'). Linen and wool on looms. European linen, Masters of Linen certified.

Fourth generation (Esko and Jaana Hjelt). Still in Lapua. Among enthusiasts, cited alongside Marimekko for quality home textiles. Wool blankets and linen sauna towels - the product that must withstand heat, humidity, repeated washing, and still feel good on skin.

Iconic Products

Couverture en laine (Pocket shawl)

Wool blanket woven in Lapua, the signature product. Graphic patterns inspired by Finnish forests. Wool improves with washing, softens over time. For the sofa, garden, cold evenings by the lake.

Linge de sauna en lin

Linen sauna towel, the most Finnish product there is. Linen handles sauna heat, humidity, repeated washing, stays pleasant on skin. Dries fast, no mildew. Masters of Linen certified. In Finland, sauna is sacred. So is the sauna towel.

Serviettes de table en lin
