Riveted metal, acetate and titanium eyewear, artisanal manufacturing in the Black Forest, Germany

Philosophy

Artisanal eyewear from the Black Forest. Riveted screwless hinges, German precision, frames repairable for life.

History

Lunor was born in 1991 in Germany's Black Forest. The name comes from "Lunette d'Or" - golden spectacles. The program: classic frames, manufactured with the precision obsession that characterizes the region's craftsmanship (this is also where cuckoo clocks and precision mechanisms are born).

Lunor's technical specialty is the riveted hinge. No screws, no springs - metal rivets that pass through the tenon and temple. Advantage: if it breaks, you re-rivet. The frame can last decades. Temples are reinforced with an internal metal core for easy optician adjustment.

Steve Jobs wore Lunor Classic Round, the rimless rounds that became iconic with him. The brand never commercially exploited it, but everyone in the industry knows.

On Reddit r/glasses, Lunor regularly comes up in comparisons with Lindberg. The consensus: Lunor is more classic, more artisanal, less expensive. "Worth the price" and "repairable" are the recurring words. One user notes: "the quality is impeccable and they feel substantial."

The range covers metal (Classic, Swing, M9 series), acetate (A5 series with double-rivet hinges), and titanium (Titan series). Each model comes in multiple sizes, a rarity in eyewear where "one size fits all" dominates.

Production stays regional, in the Black Forest. Each frame passes through over 200 manufacturing steps. Glossy surfaces require 10 days of polishing. It is slow, it is expensive, it is exactly what Lunor customers seek.

The price point, 350 to 600 euros, is high-end German eyewear. Less spectacular than JMM, less trendy than Garrett Leight, but for those who want a perfect frame that lasts 20 years, Lunor is the obvious choice.
