Philosophy

Mafia Bags transforms end-of-life boat sails into unique bags, hand-sewn in San Francisco. Each bag carries the colors and scars of its original sail. Upcycling as art, not as marketing argument.

History

Buenos Aires, 2012. Siblings Marcos and Paz Mafia start cutting bags from recycled boat sails. Spinnakers, dacrons, kevlars - fabrics designed for ocean storms. Each sail has its own colors and scars. Each bag is unique.

Move to San Francisco. Yves Behar collaborates (Deep Blue Bag). Wired review. Adam Savage collab. Design Awards. Sail fabric is ultralight but tough - designed for 40-knot winds. 10+ year bags among enthusiasts: 'surprisingly resilient.' Hand-cut, lifetime warranty, Made in USA. Upcycling as art, not marketing.
