Maison Strosser
Solid wood trade furniture, butcher blocks and pantry furniture, Paris
Philosophy
Solid wood trade furniture since 1874. Butcher blocks, pantry furniture, bespoke. Parisian cabinetmaking serving the food trades.
History
Paris, 1874. Faubourg Saint-Antoine, the woodworkers' quarter. Maison Strosser specializes in trade furniture: butcher blocks, pantry furniture. A real butcher block uses end-grain wood (vertical fibers absorb knife blows). Strosser: solid oak and hornbeam, end-grain, brass fittings.
150 years later, workshop still at 85 avenue Ledru-Rollin. Everything bespoke. 2024 review: 'The manager drew my custom piece, took time to listen, result is superb.' Oak block ~2,100 euros. Website down (domain for sale), workshop still there. An artisan who lives from craft, not online.
