Meljac
Solid brass fittings, hand-machined and patinated in Paris
Meljac offers solid brass switches that are hand-finished to perfection. Each piece acquires a unique patina over time, aging gracefully with your home. When even your light switches are signed works of art, you have reached the pinnacle of interior detail.
Philosophy
At Meljac, electrical fittings are treated as bespoke jewelry for the home. Every switch and outlet is machined from solid brass, then hand-polished and patinated in their Paris workshop to create a tactile, luxury experience.
History
In 1995, André Bousquet made a radical bet: he would conquer the electrical fittings market using hand-machined solid brass. At a time when light switches were considered purely utilitarian, Bousquet insisted they should be "seductive, even sensual." He saw the potential for these small, overlooked objects to become true decorative elements. In 1996, he opened his first showroom in Paris’s 15th arrondissement, and by 1999, his workshop in Ivry-sur-Seine was already attracting the attention of the world’s most elite interior designers, from luxury hotels to private mansions.
Meljac’s growth has been defined by an absolute refusal to compromise on quality. To maintain total control over its artistry, the company internalized its surface treatments in 2009 and built a state-of-the-art factory in Villeneuve-le-Roi in 2010. Every single piece is machined, polished, patinated, and assembled by hand in France - a level of craftsmanship that earned the brand the prestigious "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label in 2015. Although André Bousquet passed away in 2019, his vision continues to thrive under a dedicated team. As it celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025, Meljac now operates global showrooms from London to Los Angeles, proving that even a light switch can be elevated to the level of high art.
