Philosophy

Premium brand of the Japan Blue Group, Momotaro embodies Kojima denim excellence. From Zimbabwean cotton yarn dyed with natural indigo to vintage shuttle loom weaving, every step is controlled in-house. The result: living denim that evolves with its wearer.

History

Momotaro Jeans was born in 2006 in Kojima, Okayama, the birthplace of Japanese jeans since the 1960s. Hisao Manabe, indigo dyeing master and president of Japan Blue Group, created the brand with one ambition: produce the world's finest denim, from yarn to finished product. The name comes from the folk tale of Momotarō, the peach boy who battles demons. The painted stripes on the back pockets represent the hero's battle lines. The denim is woven at the Collect Mill, the group's own factory, on 1950s shuttle looms.

Iconic Products

0105SP (Going to Battle)

Regular straight in 15.7oz selvedge. Two gold battle stripes hand-painted on each back pocket. The signature model that defined Momotaro. Zimbabwean cotton, natural indigo. The jean that tells a story before it even starts fading.

0306SP (Tight Tapered)

Tight tapered fit, same signature selvedge denim. The denimhead favorite for spectacular fades. The modern cut that opened Momotaro to an audience beyond straight fit purists.

0605SP (Natural Tapered)

Natural tapered: relaxed through the top, tapered below. 15.7oz selvedge. The compromise between classic straight and tight tapered. Often the first enthusiasts recommendation for Momotaro newcomers.
