Mühle

Artisanal shaving instruments, brushes and razors crafted according to Saxon tradition

🇩🇪 Germany, Stützengrün Founded in 1945 $$

Philosophy

Eighty years of shaving culture. Mühle unites the heritage of Saxon Ore Mountains with contemporary innovation, creating instruments that transform daily shaving into a ritual of excellence. Each brush is born from expert hands, perpetuating a rare craft while respecting family traditions.

History

Stutzengrün, Saxony, 1945. Otto Johannes Muller returns from war, founds Muhle in a laundry room. Shaving brushes, Ore Mountains tradition. Fire in 1949: rebuilds. GDR expropriation in 1972: endures. Wall falls 1990: recovers everything. 80 years, three generations, nothing stopped them.

On enthusiasts: the R89 is THE reference safety razor. 'Superb quality and finish.' Improved threading pin (zinc to brass) to outlast Edwin Jagger. Handmade in Germany certified. New production hall 2023. Shops in Berlin and London.

Iconic Products

R89 (rasoir de surete)

THE reference safety razor among enthusiasts. Closed comb, mild, perfect for beginners. 5+ year lifespan. Brass threading pin (improvement over Edwin Jagger). At ~35 euros, the value consensus in the traditional shaving community.

R41 (peigne ouvert)

The open comb razor. Aggressive, efficient, not for beginners. Some find the blade support 'a bit rough.' That's the point: a razor for those who know what they're doing and want a close shave in one pass. R89 for the wise, R41 for the brave.

Blaireau Silvertip Fibre

Silvertip vegan fiber shaving brush. Muhle innovation: reproducing natural badger feel without animal hair. Hand-assembled in Stutzengrün, each tuft precisely weighed. The house's original product, reinvented for the 21st century.
