Nomaka
Technical outdoor clothing, PFC-free Dermizax, Swiss design
Too niche with zero community feedback. Impossible to assess real quality. We're keeping it under observation due to lack of data.
Philosophy
Swiss technical outerwear designed for alpine and urban environments. PFC-free Dermizax membranes, tailored cuts, clean aesthetics. Swiss engineering applied to modern outdoor wear.
History
Nomaka emerged in Zurich in 2019, founded by an unlikely duo: Jesper Gustafsson, a Swede with a background in international retail, and Christian Mauriand, a high-flying Swiss financier and founder of Kanoma Capital. Two corporate profiles with zero history in technical garments. The company was registered under the name Nomaka AG in Zug.
The development phase stretched over five years in near-total silence. No teasing on Instagram, no orchestrated buzz, and no calculated drops to feed the hype. These were five years of research behind closed doors - a luxury that only solid financing can afford.
Then, in early 2025, the brand surfaced with a bang. Its debut was spectacular: an installation by Harry Nuriev at NK Stockholm, the prestigious Swedish department store. A gleaming monolith of metal and mirrors, it stood in sharp contrast to the earthy, organic tones of the outerwear on display. Nuriev, the founder of Crosby Studios and soon-to-be 2026 Maison & Objet Designer of the Year, applied his "transformism" manifesto to Nomaka - garments conceived as tools for modern life, designed to navigate seamlessly between high mountains and the boardroom. Vogue Scandinavia covered the launch, setting a sophisticated tone.
On paper, the technical arsenal is beyond reproach. PFC-free Dermizax membranes by Toray, HeiQ XReflex insulation that reflects body heat to reduce bulk without sacrificing performance, and Pertex NetPlus linings woven from 100% recycled fishing nets. The exterior fabrics feature Cordura Majo Tech and Riri hardware. It is a blend of Swiss and Japanese engineering, using only the highest industrial standards.
Distribution remains deliberately narrow. Globus in Switzerland, NK in Stockholm, and Shilla in South Korea. There is no aggressive e-commerce or massive wholesale. The brand also made an appearance at Pitti Uomo in Florence, an essential showcase for anyone aiming to exist in the international menswear scene. The positioning is pure luxury, and the prices reflect that.
However, the reality remains unchanged: nobody seems to be wearing these pieces in real life, or at least nobody is talking about it. There is no community, no field reports, and no observable wear over time. Nomaka has staked everything on the quality of its ingredients and the prestige of its artistic director. Its future will depend entirely on what the first wearers have to say.
Iconic Products
Shell Jacket (Dermizax)
Technical jacket in PFC-free Dermizax membrane. The brand's flagship. Impressive specs on paper: waterproof, breathable, zero perfluorocarbons. Tailored cut, clean Swiss aesthetic. But nobody has field-tested it and published feedback. Beautiful promise.
Insulated Parka (HeiQ XReflex)
Insulated parka with HeiQ XReflex technology. Insulation reflecting body heat. Pertex NetPlus lining from recycled fishing nets. The perfect eco-tech pitch. Product specs that make engineers dream. Just missing someone's opinion after wearing it in the mountains.
Cordura Layer (Majo Tech)
Mid-layer in Majo Tech Cordura. Abrasion-resistant, technical, Swiss. Materials among the market's best. The question remains the same for the entire catalog: is the assembly up to the components? We don't know. Nobody has answered.
