Opticraft (Masunaga)
Artisanal titanium and acetate eyewear, Sabae since 1905
Philosophy
Japan's oldest eyewear manufacturer since 1905. Fully integrated production in Sabae. Premium acetate and titanium.
History
Among enthusiasts, the verdict is absolute: 'one of the best Japanese brands', 'will easily last a lifetime'. Masunaga is the family that literally created Fukui's eyewear industry. In 1905, Gozaemon Masunaga brought craftsmen from Osaka and Tokyo to this rural prefecture and launched Japan's first eyewear production. Today, Fukui produces 97% of Japanese frames and is one of the world's three eyewear capitals alongside China and Italy. Waldorf, Urbanite, and Chord G are classics. Titanium, premium acetate, remarkable lightness. Even Masunaga replicas are praised for their quality - proof that the original has reached mythical status.
