Rancilio
Professional and home espresso machines, and coffee grinders.
Racheté par De'Longhi Group en 2020.
Philosophy
To combine Italian craftsmanship with technological innovation, making professional-quality espresso accessible, from cafés to kitchens.
History
Parabiago, near Milan, 1927. Roberto Rancilio opens his workshop. Nearly a century of espresso. One of the oldest coffee machine brands in the world.
1997: the Silvia launches. Brass boiler, vibratory pump, 58mm standard group. THE entry-level prosumer machine. On enthusiasts: 'built like a tank,' 'my Silvia is 18 years old and still going strong.' The machine that taught a generation of homebaristas. Requires 'temperature surfing' - a $50 PID kit transforms it. Not an appliance, an instrument.
Professional segment equally solid. Classe machines in bars worldwide. Rocky flat burr grinder, the Silvia's historic companion. Ali Group acquired in 2013. De'Longhi got the domestic division in 2020. Silvia Pro (built-in PID, dual boiler) shows R&D continues under corporate flag.
Iconic Products
Rancilio Silvia
The Silvia, launched in 1997, is the quintessential 'prosumer' machine. With its 'indestructible' brass boiler and vibratory pump, specialist forums users call it 'built like a tank'. Be warned, it demands a learning curve ('temperature surfing') and regular maintenance (descaling), but a $50 PID kit transforms the experience. A machine that lasts 15 to 20 years, or more, if properly cared for.
Rancilio Rocky Grinder
Often the ideal companion to the Silvia, the Rocky is a robust and reliable grinder. It's not the fastest or quietest, but its solid build and flat burrs make it a durable choice for quality home espresso. A good investment for those seeking the classic pair.
Rancilio Classe Series
The Classe series represents the core of Rancilio's professional offering. These machines, like the Classe 9 with its Xcelsius system, are designed for demanding cafés and restaurants. They offer hydraulic automation, precise temperature control, and bulletproof reliability, a direct legacy of the brand's expertise in the commercial world.
