Stewart Hearn

Stewart Hearn has been blowing glass for thirty years in Cambridgeshire. Every piece is designed, blown and signed by the artist himself. His work marries traditional techniques with contemporary vision - bowls in dawn mist colours, vases with trailed rims, objects that capture light like miniature landscapes. Gold Medal winner at the Hejian International Glass Competition in China, listed on the Crafts Council's Index of Selected Makers, he also works on commission for interior designers, restorers and artists, some of whom have been clients for over eighteen years. Not a glass industrialist, a blower who signs what he creates.

Stewart Hearn begins glassblowing in the mid-1990s, initially as London Glassworks. Trained in traditional British and European techniques, he quickly develops a recognisable personal style - pieces in subtle colours inspired by English landscapes, with technical details like trailed rims and encalmo (fusing two bubbles of different colours).

His workshop settles in Cambridgeshire, away from London's bustle but close to collectors and galleries. He builds a dual practice - his own artist creations and a commissioned fabrication service for designers, architects, restorers and fellow artists. Some clients have collaborated with him for over eighteen years.

International recognition comes with the Gold Medal at the third Hejian Craft Glass Creation & Design International Competition in China. He's listed on the Crafts Council's Index of Selected Makers, the official directory of Britain's finest craftspeople. His pieces are exhibited at galleries like Contemporary and Country, and sold through ABASK, the reference platform for luxury craft.

Every piece remains signed by the artist. Prices start around £150 for a bowl, making his work accessible compared to many art glass makers.
