Philosophy

Studio D'Artisan is the founder of the Japanese vintage reproduction denim movement. Created in 1979 by Shigeharu Tagaki after a stay in France, the brand reconstructs American workwear classics with Japanese craftsmanship. Slogan: Reconstruction of great old things.

History

Founded in 1979 by Shigeharu Tagaki in Osaka. Tagaki-san lived and worked in France before returning to Japan to recreate American workwear classics with Japanese sensibility. Founding member of the Osaka Five with Denime, Evisu, Fullcount and Warehouse.

The twin pigs mascot is one of Japanese denim's most recognizable logos. Flagship store in Osaka (Amemura). On enthusiasts: 'their denim is amazing,' 'deep hue, right amount of slub, super durable.' Limited editions highly sought after.

Affordable in Japan (~24,000 yen / ~$165). A pillar of Japanese denim, less known than Momotaro or Iron Heart in the West but beloved by connoisseurs.
