Atelier Dast
Small leather goods and bags, full saddle stitch
Philosophy
Founded in 2022 by Victor Champion Dast and Alexandra Harwood, the workshop does hand saddle-stitching in Paris. Young, confidential, but the right technique and materials are there. One to watch.
History
Victor Champion Dast and Alexandra Harwood founded Atelier Dast in Paris in 2022. The project is straightforward: saddle-stitched leather goods, handmade, traditional techniques. No industrial shortcuts, no sewing machines, no outsourcing.
Saddle stitching means two needles, waxed thread, and hours of work per piece. It's the technique Hermès made famous but didn't invent - it has existed among saddlers for centuries. Dast practises it as-is, undiluted.
Production is deliberately small. Card cases, cardholders, belts, bags. Everyday objects built to last. Leathers sourced from top tanneries, worked and assembled in the Paris workshop.
Atelier Dast is young. Two years is not enough to judge product longevity or craft consistency. But the foundations are there: right technique, right materials, right intention. A brand to watch, not yet one to recommend blindly.
