Wild Sky Gear
Dyneema tarps and shelters, solo craftsman in the UK
Philosophy
British one-man-band. Hand-sewn DCF and Dyneema. Custom orders accepted. Honest prices for premium materials.
History
Skye McGregor was fifteen when he decided to cross Great Britain on foot, alone, in winter. From Land's End to John O'Groats - 1500 km. To keep his pack light, he made his own equipment from high-performance materials. On the trail, hikers asked him where to buy his gear. Wild Sky Gear was born.
Today, it is still a small independent British company. Speciality: DCF, Dyneema Composite Fabric - one of the lightest, most resistant and waterproof technical fabrics in the world. Tarps, dry bags, pouches, stuff sacks, carbon tent pegs. Everything is designed, tested and hand-sewn in the UK. Truly tested: from the Scottish Munros to the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
Among enthusiasts, Wild Sky Gear is THE European reference for reasonably priced DCF. Much cheaper than American equivalents - Zpacks, Hyperlite Mountain Gear. "Good quality and well priced," summarizes one user. Custom orders are accepted, service is personal, delivery is fast - generally 1-2 working days.
The perfect antithesis of industrial outdoor. A fifteen-year-old kid sewing tarps in his workshop. And doing it better than the big brands.
